What data we collect and why

Server and security logs

Our site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare automatically logs certain information about every request made to our servers, including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This is standard practice for any web hosting service and is used for security monitoring and abuse prevention. We do not access or control this data directly - it is processed by Cloudflare under their own privacy policy (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy).

Legal basis: legitimate interests (network security and protection against fraud and abuse).

Analytics (with your consent)

If you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner, we use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site. The information collected includes pages visited, time spent on the site, and device type. IP addresses are anonymised before any data is sent to Google. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors.

Analytics data is only collected after you grant explicit consent. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the Manage cookie preferences link on our Disclosure page or in the site footer.

Contact enquiries

If you contact us by email or through the contact form, we hold your name, email address, and message solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list and we do not share this information with third parties.

Cookies

Third parties we share data with

  • Cloudflare Inc. (USA) - powers our hosting and content delivery network. Processes server logs for security. Privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
  • Google LLC (USA) - provides Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager, but only if you have accepted analytics cookies. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Affiliate retailers (Amazon, Ethical Superstore, Etsy) - when you click an affiliate link on our site and visit one of their websites, those retailers may set their own cookies on your device. We have no control over those cookies. Please review their respective privacy policies before making a purchase.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

Data retention

  • Server logs: retained per Cloudflare's default policy (typically up to 30 days). See the Cloudflare privacy policy for current details.
  • Analytics data: retained per the default Google Analytics 4 retention settings (event data: 2 months; user data: as configured in the property). You can request deletion at any time - see Your rights below.
  • Contact enquiries: retained until your enquiry is resolved, then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Access - request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification - ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure - ask us to delete your personal data in certain circumstances.
  • Restriction - ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Portability - receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection - object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent - withdraw analytics consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Use the Manage cookie preferences link.
